From donhenson at britarch.ac.uk Mon Aug 4 15:32:31 2008 From: donhenson at britarch.ac.uk (Don Henson) Date: Mon, 4 Aug 2008 15:32:31 +0100 Subject: [Educationcommittee08] Archaeology and Education 2008 Message-ID: <26C25A88F1779746BDC6E40AB9069C39EB37A6@srv06.uk.britarch2.ac.uk> Hello all, We've been beavering away on the preparations for the Archaeology and Education conference. The programme is available on the CBA website - http://www.britarch.ac.uk/conference08/. We have 45 speakers, possibly 47 by the end of this week, over the three days of the conference. We've made all the arrangements with St Johns. Their conference booking system includes letting them know exact figures for meals and accommodation, with names for the latter, 6 weeks beforehand - obviously impossible. We'll tell them we can only estimate at this stage and will send final figures nearer the time. We will begin registering people for the conference on the afternoon of the Thursday, with a registration desk. There will be some extra displays from CBA North East and a training company called Cory Jones. As you know, I can't be there for the Saturday and Sunday. IAN - would you mind being me for those two days, in overall charge, and giving the wind up/chairing the Sunday plenary? We'll share out tasks during the conference itself among every one nearer the time. Bookings thus far are very slow - only 5 non-speakers so far. We will probably have to make a decision in about a fortnight's time whether we go ahead or not. Publicity has been emailed out to a wide variety of places since late June. The response has been a little disappointing. All the best, Don Don Henson Head of Education and Outreach The Council for British Archaeology, St Mary's House, 66 Bootham, York, YO30 7BZ, United Kingdom.
